ABOUT
The Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship was founded in 1998 by the family of Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne. Dr. Osborne was a longtime family physician and surgeon who served the residents of Ironton, Ohio, and the surrounding community for over 30 years until his passing in 1985.
The scholarship is provided to an outstanding senior at Ironton High School. The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement. The scholarship is a one-time, $3,500 award that is presented each year at the annual commencement.
The first memorial scholarship was awarded in 1999 and the Osborne family has continued to award the scholarship annually to a deserving Ironton High School graduate. The list of award winners is truly outstanding. Thanks to the generous contributions that the scholarship fund has received since its inception, the scholarship’s outlook is better than ever. The Osborne family looks forward to providing this scholarship for many years to come.
